Boys Basketball moves past NBFriday, January 15, 2016 The Newington boys basketball team continued its best start in years Thursday, thumping New Britain 70-58 at home to move to 9-0. Jared Simmons had 18 points for the Indians, but he had plenty of help. Pablo Ortiz had 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Brett Frank added 18 points. “Brett Frank and Jared Simmons really took control late,” Newington coach Scot Wenzel said. “Dante Philip and Pablo did a great job down low. They do a great job rebounding and attacking the rim. New Britain (3-5) was down just four at halftime, but couldn’t keep up. Donavon Lighty had 27 for the Hurricanes. Courtesy of the NB Herald
