Boys Basketball cruises in opener

The Newington boys basketball team got off to a fast start this season by defeating the Berlin Redcoats 69-45.

Edwin Gomez had a big day, leading all scorers with 24 points, coming off the bench late in the first quarter. Tim Blair had 15 points for the Indians along with 11 rebounds. Bryant Morander had nine points to go along with nine rebounds.

Brenden Vessichio and Darren Gilbert had 14 and 13 points respectively for the Redcoats in the defeat.

Newington starts the season off 1-0 while Berlin begins the year at 0-1.
